Burbank Airport RITC I Burbank, California
As part of gkkworks, Guillermo Aguilar, AIA served as the QA/QC Principal for the oversight of architectural controls on this regional transportation project. The QA/QC services provided include the review of construction documents and subsequent value engineering for this multi-phase project that includes a Regional Intermodal Transportation Center (RITC) and connected facilities at the Airport. Guillermo worked with the design architect, PGAL, in subsequent modifications of the project, providing constructability reviews and value engineering.
The project provides an elevated multi-level RITC that combines a transit station and a consolidated rental car facility. The transit station portion has designated space for Metro transit, Amtrak, as well as local, charter and rental buses. The RITC will be connected to the future Bob Hope Airport Train Station and the airport passenger terminal via an elevated covered walkway with moving sidewalks. The rental car portion can accommodate multiple rental car companies and is outfitted with counter space, public restrooms, vertical access (including elevators, escalators and stairways), ready-return spaces, and quick-turn-around facilities on each level for vehicle fueling, washing and cleaning.
